Executive and Philanthropist Ken Wessel has over fifty years of experience in the fragrance industry. A resident of Vero Beach, Florida, Ken Wessel actively supports organizations that improve the quality of life of people in the community. Such organizations include the Spectrum for Living.

Spectrum for Living is a non-profit organization that supports adults with developmental disabilities by providing them with housing and clinical services in care facilities. The services provided include intermediate care, barrier-free support, adult day programs, and recreational programs. Spectrum for Living began in 1978 with the meeting of a group of concerned parents of children with developmental disabilities.

Alexander Gallione, Rena Kamena, Adele Guttenberg, Edna Melosh, and Annette Levy worried about what would become of their children when they, the parents, could no longer take care of them. To solve this problem, the founding parents created Spectrum for Living based on one guiding principle. The principle is a belief that people with developmental disabilities deserve to experience a meaningful and fulfilling life.

In 1983, the first spectrum site opened in Closter, New Jersey. The Intermediate care Facility housed up to 48 persons. Today Spectrum for Living has over 28 centers across New Jersey, serving over 800 people.
